Welcome Back! Hope your summer was great and that you've got a lot of NRG for a new year; we've got lots of great things planned for you.

Here's some info that I want you all to read - parents and students. The first part was in the Back To School packet. The second part is a list of class-specific things you'll need for my classes. Please also note the CTCS school supply list.

Classroom expectations

6th 7th & 8th Christian Education / 6th 7th & 8th Physical Education

7th Life Science / 8th US History

Welcome to class! This is going to be a great year. It’s going to go super fast…just think of where you were a year ago today! I want to start off on the right foot, and I’m sure you do to. So just think of this – ATTITUDE. Attitude is nearly everything in life. You can’t control most of what happens to you, but you can entirely control your attitude. Have the best attitude you can…in this class, with your friends, playing sports, with your family…everywhere.

Classroom Expectations...
I want you to develop into inquisitive, life-long learners. Learning can be fun and grades are not the only way to show that you’ve learned something. I also want you to stand on your own feet, to develop independence and Godly character. You can expect in-class presentations, peer reviewing, student-teaching, and other activities. Behavior, citizenship, and respect are all pillars of being a good, moral Christian and I equally expect each of you to be familiar with the regulations and requirements as outlines in the CTCS Handbook.

PE-related Expectations...
As your Phys Ed teacher, I expect each of you to participate with the best attitude, effort and level of sportsmanship possible. Athletics is largely about others pushing each other to excel, and so I expect you to apply yourself and try with all your might. Dressing in appropriate PE clothes, as outlined in the CTCS Handbook, is linked to your grade and is counted as participation. Lastly, if you are ill or unable to participate in PE, a note must be submitted from your parent or physician, and you are responsible to tell me directly and submit this note to me if you must be excused from PE.

Grades and grading...
I grade on a points possible basis. For example, homework is generally worth 10 points. If you earned full credit, the grade would be a 10 out of 10 (10 / 10 or 100%). Half credit would be a 5/10, or 50%. Major assignments are worth 50, 80, or even 120 points. This system enables you to measure the value, or “weight” of each assignment and not have to calculate percentages.
