6th Grade Earth Science 2/2 - 2/6

Monday: continue to work on Science Project. Please note that projects need to be at school before 8:20 a.m. on Wed., 2/4. This is so students can present their projects to their classmates and any parents who are able to come to school at 9:30 in Room 312. Please encourage your child to present the project to you over the weekend and check their project against the judging criteria sent home last two weeks ago. Thanks for your support and help!

Tuesday: same as above

Wed: Make sure your student brings their completed Science project before school to room 312. Please join us if you can for their presentations at 9:30 a.m. Students will need to set their projects up in the dining room that afternoon at 12:15. Study for test on C. 9 on Friday.

Thursday: Study for test on C. 9 tomorrow, Friday. Please join us for the Science Fair held between 3:20 and 5:30 and open to all students, parents and teachers. NO projects may be taken home until 5:30 at the end of the fair or on Friday.

Friday: All projects need to picked up from the Dining room, taken to classrooms and then home that afternoon. The final 100 pts. will show up in the 3rd quarter. Students were give full credit if they turned project components in on time this quarter. The final grade will be based on the final project with all corrections included.

6th - Moving our way through Acts Ch 13 and the growth of the early church.

7th - We've finished James and are beginning 1st Peter.

8th - We've wrapped up our work on the Liberian Baseball Project and have shifted gears into an examination of the early church. There will be an Acts Quiz on Wed 28 Jan



7th Life Science


We've begun ch 10 and the process of scientific classification.

Assignments this week:

Most efforts will be given to refining students' SF projects. As I've said, I'm real proud of the work the students are doing. Most of the projects have great details and are imaginative and thoughtful. Good job, folks!

Remember that the SF is Thursday 5 Feb.

A detailed schedule of SF events will be distributed this week.

It is likely that on Wed 4 Feb the MS (6, 7, and 8th grades) will display their projects to each other in their science classes. Therefore, student project boards will need to be on campus on Wed. Please wait for the final word on this as decisions are being made.



8th US History


We're continuing our state student teaching assignments / power point presentations.

Be sure you take a few notes as each student teaches. So far, the presentations have been great and full of color, details, and information.

Science Fair projects continue to impress! Many students have taken the initiative to have me edit their assignments prior to the due date. I'll give students who do so full credit if they make the changes I suggest by the due date.

The fair is just three weeeks away - THURSDAY 5 FEB. Please mark you calendars for this event; a major undertaking for CTCS.

Our Adopt-a-State assignment has been given and students have chosen and begun researching their state.

This is a complex assignment that will require students to teach the class, using handouts and a Power Point presentation they make.

No more class time will be given to researching; refer to due dates on the yellow handout...and don't forget your teaching date!!

Student Teaching research papers are due in class on Tuesday 20 Jan...and we'll watch the inauguration in class.

Student Teaching begins in class on Wed 21 Jan. Two students teach each day.

We're taking a field trip to the Institute of Creation Research in Santee on FRIDAY 16 JAN from 10:30 - 3:00. Admission is free.

(If time allows it we will watch a baseball clip in Spanish and work on the vocabulary).

Review of the material seen on Tuesday and we will type and practice and memorize together the verbs we learned previously.

The test will be about the conjugation of the verbs seen on this week and a translation of the reading "Beisbol" from the book page 244, 245.
