7th Life Science

We've wrapped up our look at mammals and organ systems. I hope that our time at Body Worlds sparked some good conversations at home - hopefully not around the dinner table. Mammal Project presentations were great, too!

Today, Fri 8 May, I'll give a brief open-note quiz on Mammals. This should be easy for the students as they can use the material they studied with Ms Zeringue last week.

Next, we'll begin a combined unit on Ch's 17 & 18 on Ecology and Ecosystems. We'll also watch several episodes of Planet Earth and students will journal about each episode.

Packets will be given out today and we'll work through the material over the next few weeks.

Assignments for this unit are:
Mon 11 May - Ch 17 DR

Tues 12 May - Planet Earth (Journal #1)

Thurs 14 May - Continue Ch 17

Fri 15 May - Begin Ch 18 & Planet Earth (Journal #2)

Next week (18-22 May) will be a continuation of the above through Ch 18.

8th US History

I hope the DC trip was more than what you expected! We all had a great time and it was a personal pleasure of mine to visit some of my old stomping grounds and share some stories with the kids. A really great time.

CTC MS has formally kicked off the Multi-Cultural Fair (MCF). All grades are working on this project and MS teachers are sharing different roles to make it a real culminating and cross-curricular activity. 8th graders are divided into pairs, each focusing on a region of the US (New England, the south,...). Detailed instructions were given on Tues 5 May. Should be great!

Concurrently with the MFC, I'm keeping students moving through their history text. Bear in mind morning classes are shortened M/T/W/TH for Sat-10 testing.

Assignments for both are as follows:

Mon 11 May - Ch 10 QUIZ & work on MCF

Tues 12 May - Begin Ch 11

Wed 13 May - Ch 11 DR packet due. MCF work day.

Thurs 14 May - MCF papers due. Continue in Ch 11
& A. Lincoln book introduced.

Fri 15 May - MCF work day.
