Nieman - For weeks 20 and 27 April

I'm combining the next two weeks - up until Mon 4 May - as I'll be out with the 8th graders to Washington D.C. Please be flexible and patient with these assignments and due dates. We have projects and assignments for all the great activities the MS students will experience these next few weeks!

MS Bible / Christian Ed

6TH - Continuing through Romans

7th - Continuing through Revelations

8th - Continuing through Hebrews. Look for a May 8th Community Service Project

7th Life Science

Before Spring break students began researching a human organ system to then teach the class via a power point presentation, diagram (provided) and prepared questions . They did a good job looking at their chosen system over break - not an assignment, but more to keep them thinking. This week we finalized the requirements and began the presentations.

Assignments:

Mon 20 Apr - Begin CH 15

Tues 21 Apr - Organ System Vocab TEST

Thurs 23 Apr -CH 15, introduce next assignment (Mammals) & prep for our field trip to Body Worlds!

Fri 24 Apr - Body Worlds Field Trip (11:30 - 3:15)

During the week of 27 Apr, students will work on a Mammal assignment & conclude CH 15.

Due date for Mammal Assignment will (likely) be Tues 5 May

Culminating activity/test for CH 15 & Mammals will (likely) be Fri 8 May

8th USH

Over break, students were to visit a library and check out a few books about American slavery. We've been looking this week on how to research a book, decide a topic, develop a thesis and then create a formal research paper. Instructions and hints were given in class.

Assignments:

Mon 20 Apr - First draft of paper due

Tues 21 Apr - CH 9 Open Note Quiz

Wed 22 Apr - Last day for DC Trip discussion

Thurs 23 Apr - Final draft of papers due. Begin Ch 10 in class - Guided Reading Part 1

Fri 24 Apr - Oral presentation of Slavery Papers.

DC Assignment - Students will have 6 of 8 journal assignments to complete while in DC. Please refer to the CTC Homework board for details of this assignment. Materials for the students will be provided by both Joshua Expedition folks and yours truly. Thanks!
